After dozens of houses in Marbella and Benahavis, Modern Villas have now designed their second home for a Danish client in Estepona.
The clients wanted no less than 6 bedrooms – not an easy feat in a plot that allowed for only 260m2 of building.
The plot is frontline golf and enjoys beautiful sea views… but the building envelope was only 18.6m wide.
Esthetically, it’s not easy to make a house look sleek with a width like this. So Modern Villas’ architects emphasized the crisp, horizontal lines; while softening the vertical lines with a filigree of thinner, vertical slats against a soft wood coloured background.
The mainly white facade – and the interiors – are warmed up using high touch materials like limestone and bleached oak wood.
The master suite – floating above the double-height living room – has a few cool features, like an inner opening that connects visually to the space above the living room and opens up the views to the sea; and a walk-in wardrobe that can be locked off when the house is rented out.
The pool has two levels – a shallow “lagoon”, that can be used to enjoy the sun, with one’s feet in the water – or as a kids pool; and the main 15m pool for those wonderful morning swims!
