The St. John House was designed for a U.S. client who owns an amazing plot with panoramic seaviews near St. Cruz Bay, St. John’s Island. The architects created a house with two volumes of which one advance towards the sea and lóóks as if it is spectacularly cantilevered. The illusion is created by the use of large pocket windows that get completely hidden inside the walls, creating a seamless inside-outside experience. The top floor of this volume is entirely taken by the spectacular master suite; which has 180º seaviews, small home office, wardrobes and a spa-style bathroom complete with outdoor showers and terraces. Living in the Caribbean means living outdoors – so Modern Villas created a variety of outdoor spots to enjoy life in different ways. A large, shadowed deck connects to the garden in the back, while the glass fronted infinity pool visually connects to the ocean. It even has a small “beach” area where one can enjoy the sun with one’s feet in the water. The second wing hosts a number of guest suites with en suite bathrooms as well as a gym-yoga room that connects to the terraces. On the lowest level, semi-covered parking spots under both wings offer convenient access for both the owners and guests, with a hydraulic elevator connecting the three levels.
